Be part of one of the UK’s most critical nuclear projects – Our client are hiring a skilled Mechanical Inspector for a long-term, high-security assignment in Reading.

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for delivering independent quality control and weld inspection services across nuclear mechanical disciplines – ensuring compliance, quality, and safety from manufacture to installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform independent inspections as a Mechanical Inspector at both site and vendor facilities
• Verify compliance with quality plans and technical specifications across mechanical systems
• Review fabrication documentation, welding procedures, and inspection/test plans
• Ensure accurate documentation and traceability of all quality records
• Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical queries

Essential Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Inspector in the Nuclear or MOD sector
• CSWIP certification
• Radiographic Interpretation (RAD) experience
• At least one of the following NDT qualifications: UT, MPI, or DPI
• Minimum 6 years of inspection experience in welded fabrications/manufactured equipment
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (EN13445, PD5500, ASME VIII, etc.)
• Confident in reviewing ITPs, WPS, NDE procedures, and LTQRs
• Excellent technical writing and stakeholder communication skills
