Job summary

Antares in Los Angeles is seeking a Reactor Software Engineer to build software for its first-of-a-kind microreactor and hardware-in-the-loop environments. You will bridge reactor controls, instrumentation, simulations, and data systems to enable safe operation, testing, and deployment.

You will collaborate across controls, electrical, embedded systems, safety, and test teams to design, implement, and validate hardware-facing software for sensors, DAQs, and operator displays, while ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a related technical field.
• Experience developing software for hardware-integrated, embedded, or mission-critical systems.
• Strong Python 3 fundamentals including typing and testing.
• Experience with Git and collaboration workflows (pull requests, code reviews).
• Familiarity with concurrent/async patterns and IPC, threads, or multiprocessing.
• Ability to design data models, state machines, and testable interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop reactor software for data acquisition and telemetry processing.
• Own features end-to-end from specs through integration and documentation.
• Create software that runs across simulation, bench, HIL/HITL, and reactor environments.
• Implement runtime controls: scheduling, gating, mode transitions, and telemetry streams.
• Define clear interfaces for hardware adapters, sensors, and external data systems.
• Implement data validation and fault-aware behavior across software boundaries.
• Write automated tests for hardware-facing workflows and real system behavior.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define interfaces and test plans.
• Participate in design reviews and root-cause investigations during hardware integration.
