Job summary

Antares is seeking a Firmware Engineer to build the embedded software that enables our first-of-a-kind microreactor hardware to operate reliably in real time. This role sits at the interface between custom electronics and reactor control infrastructure, translating signals, commands, timing, diagnostics, and fault responses into dependable hardware behavior.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 2+ years of production software development in C, C++, Python, or Rust for hardware-integrated systems.
• Experience with multi-threaded or multi-process software and IPC/ networking.
• Experience with sensor/controllers/DAQs and hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain firmware for reactor instrumentation and control.
• Develop embedded software for microcontrollers and real-time hardware platforms.
• Bring up new hardware, debug issues, and validate firmware with lab equipment.
• Implement interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, RS-485.
• Develop firmware for sensor acquisition, telemetry, diagnostics, and fault handling.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, reactor software, safety, and test teams.
