Daimler Truck North America in Detroit, MI is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to lead a team of automotive suppliers delivering quality powertrain components at capacity. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related.
  • 1–3 years of related experience.

  • Ability to present complex technical topics during meetings with suppliers and Daimler management.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and MSA.
  • Ability to understand metallurgical requirements and interpret reports.
  • Strong problem solving skills and a solution-focused mindset.
  • Understanding of quality problem solving tools such as 8D, 5-Why, fishbone, etc.
  • A customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand and address customer needs and expectations related to supplier quality topics.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the supplier to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Manage timely resolution of supplier technical issues to ensure uninterrupted supply to production.
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase capability of consistently meeting customer requirements.
  • Document activities related to investigation, disposition, and resolution to quality complaints.
  • Conduct supplier audits to confirm product conformity, or drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor, communicate and improve key supplier quality KPIs, including DPPM, Quality Complaints, and capacity to support OTS compliance.
  • Lead or support efforts to establish specific short / long-term supplier quality goals.
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Interface and support cross functional business units on topics relating to supplier quality.
  • Oversee containment actions at the supplier to mitigate the impact of quality issues to Daimler.
  • Domestic and international travel (expected 30-50%)

This position is responsible for leading a group of automotive suppliers, in providing quality powertrain components in sufficient capacity. This position is within the Global Supplier Management and Material Process Technology department, and will report to the responsible Supplier Management Quality Team Leader.

Position offers a starting salary range of $78,000 – $100,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience.

  • Experience working with global suppliers and managing quality across different regions and cultures.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language
