Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing, individualized student support to help participants persist and complete goals.
  • Assist with intake and support access to programming and academic success.
  • Determine supports needed and provide resource referrals.
  • Assist with data collection for grant reporting.
  • Support retention efforts and collaborate with departments to resolve issues.
  • Represent the department at community events as assigned.
  • Collaborate with Re-Entry Coaches and staff to assess progress and track outcomes.
  • Attend department meetings and events and maintain reliable attendance.

Job Description Summary

The Re-entry Peer Mentor provides ongoing, individualized student support services designed to help program participants persist and successfully complete their education and training goals. The position works with program staff, faculty members and other staff throughout the College to continually assess students’ progress, implement helpful interventions and track individual outcomes.

Essential Position Functions
  • Provides ongoing, individualized student support services designed to help program participants persist and complete goals.
  • Assists with participants' intake process and works with program staff to ensure and support participant access to programming and achievement of academic success.
  • Determines individual supports necessary and provides resource referrals.
  • Assists with collection of quantitative and qualitative data for grant reporting purposes.
  • Continuously provides participant support to assist with retention efforts.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments and services to understand processes, systems and services to resolve student issues.
  • Represents the department at community events as assigned.
  • Works with the Re-Entry Coaches, Re-Entry Director, faculty and other staff members of the College to continually assess students' progress, implement helpful interventions as necessary, and track overall program outcomes.
  • Participates in events including, but not limited to: department meetings, advisory committee meetings, re-entry fairs, completion ceremonies and student appreciation events.
  • Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
Work Environment

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

This is an on-premise position located at the Fort Omaha Campus

Minimum Qualifications For Education And Experience
  • Associate's degree.
  • Two (2) years of full-time experience supporting or coaching others, preferably inside a correctional setting and/or with individuals who have been recently released from a correctional facility.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
  • Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
  • Must pass a background check.
