Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Registered Dietitian to support solid organ transplant patients in an inpatient setting. The role includes rounds, collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and providing nutrition support (enteral and parenteral) along with education to patients and staff.

Job description

DESCRIPTION

This is a patient facing position required by regulatory. Position will provide coverage for solid organ transplant patients (heart, lung, kidney, liver). RD will attend rounds, work with interdisciplinary team, provide nutrition support (enteral and parenteral) recommendations, provide diet education to patients and staff, and collaborate with outpatient team to facilitate timely discharge and transition of care to outpatient services. RD will supervise activities of diet technicians working inpatient.

Develops, implements and records in EHR the nutrition care plan for all assigned patients. Fosters continuity of care among all phases across the continuum of care. Continuously evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy intervention. Manages the delivery of nutrition care in assigned units. Actively participates in medical rounds. Participates in department's special projects, performance improvement activities, and research. Provides nutrition lectures and in-services to nutrition and medical staff as assigned. Collaborates with Diet Techs and mentors dietetic interns/students. Actively assesses, evaluates, and maintains professional development and competency related to assigned units. Assists with foodservice projects to improve patient satisfaction. Maintains professional growth and development through advanced certification(s), and professional affiliations, and organizational committees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Dietitians must possess the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition/Dietetics and have completed an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics internship.
• Licensed Registered Dietitian in the state of California.
• Two (2) years of experience in comparable acuity level.
• In-depth knowledge associated with providing evaluation, assessment, and nutritional therapy services within specialty area(s).
• Knowledge and skills to recommend improvements to nutritional services and consult on quality improvement.
• Excellent skills in working effectively on a team and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) and/or Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (CCTD).
• Experience working in an inpatient setting.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $93,632 - $123,584 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $44.84 - $59.19
