Job description

Zurich is currently looking for a RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster to join our Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team. RCIS is one of the leading crop insurance providers in the U.S. RCIS offers insurance protection in all 50 states through a national network of about 3,600 licensed agents. Together with RCIS agents, we protect America's farmers and ranchers.

The Crop Adjuster is to work out of the state of Georgia. This incumbent will work from a home-based office. This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Approximately 50% travel is expected to cover the territory. The ideal candidate will need to live and service within a 60-mile area of the following counties: Laurens, Dublin, and Ware.

With moderate direction, they will investigate, evaluate, and conclude complex field inspections by following appropriate regulatory and company rules and procedures to ensure that claims are handled in the most effective, efficient way while delivering a customer-centric claims service. They will also provide support to Area Claims Managers either as a local claims specialist in the facilitation of general day-to-day operations and claims management. In addition, the selected candidates will support the lower-level adjusting staff by completing and/or providing training and assistance with complex claims.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Exercise judgment to determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts; utilizing applicable procedures.
  • Exercise judgment to determine policy verification and coverage determination by analyzing applicable coverage for claims and determining whether the loss falls within the coverage.
  • Participate in Risk Management Agency initiated reviews and referrals for sake of operations integrity and quality assurance.
  • Protect Zurich’s reputation by keeping claims information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying current with industry trends, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area.
  • Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) must be obtained within 180 days of hire date.
  • Reliable personal transportation and travel within territory.
  • RCIS Crop Adjuster Physical Requirements: walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles, climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25 lbs to 50 lbs, work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
