Job summary

Derby Middle School in Derby, CT, is seeking a compassionate Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)/Paraeducator to join the RISE Room team. The RBT/Paraeducator will support students with behavioral, academic, social-emotional, and self-regulation needs through targeted interventions under supervision.

The ideal candidate holds current RBT certification, a related degree, and experience in schools. They will collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families to build skills, document progress,

Qualifications

• Current RBT certification through BACB or eligible for certification.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, behavioral science, special education, social work, or related field.
• Experience with children/adolescents with behavioral, academic, social-emotional needs.
• Ability to complete required background checks and district employment requirements.
• Experience in school settings and with IEPs/MTSS/PBIS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct behavioral and academic support to students individually and in small groups.
• Implement individualized behavioral interventions and strategies under supervision of school-based professionals.
• Support students in developing self-regulation, coping, communication, social, executive functioning, and problem-solving skills.
• Assist students in identifying triggers and utilizing replacement behaviors and coping strategies.
• Reinforce positive behaviors and student progress using school- and student-appropriate reinforcement systems.
• Collaborate with teachers to help students generalize skills learned in the RISE Room to classrooms and other settings.
• Document student progress, interventions, and relevant observations in line with district expectations.
