Job summary

Biogen is seeking a Family Access Manager to serve as the patient-facing expert on the Rare Disease journey, liaising with physicians, nurses, caregivers, and internal teams to remove non-clinical barriers to therapy initiation and ongoing care.

You will support access through education on payer policies, site-of-care coordination, and reimbursement strategies while building relationships with advocacy partners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' business experience in the healthcare or biotech industry with at least 3 years field-based experience in account management, sales, and/or field reimbursement. Rare disease experience is preferred.
• A successful record in field reimbursement, clinical education or in pharmaceutical sales/management of products that required significant payer and reimbursement involvement
• Experience with physician-administered drugs (PADs)/biologics and various outpatient sites of service
• Seasoned, mature pharmaceutical professional with a comprehensive understanding of field / patient reimbursement, charitable funding, non-profit organizations
• Experience leading cross-functionally and influencing without authority
• Case management or experience supporting patients/caregivers directly a plus

Responsibilities

• Support patients/families to gain access to therapy, including disease and product education, site of care coordination, payer policies and reimbursement processes
• Play the role of patient advocate in cross-functional meetings with internal partners to build and maintain accurate case plans for patients
• Identify and resolve patient access barriers including insurance coverage, reimbursement, financial limitations, site of care, procurement/distribution issues
• Work with Market Access & Reimbursement team members to ensure appropriate reimbursement and engage with payers, specialty pharmacies, and distributors to ensure access
• Provide strong emotional support for individuals living with rare diseases and their families/caregivers
• Monitor changes in the patient access environment to proactively identify issues and communicate with patients/caregivers
• Complete comprehensive assessments of individual patient needs, including payer policies and plan designs
• Develop and offer solutions to families including alternative insurance options and connecting to resources
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on Biogen Patient services
• Develop activities to foster openness and understanding of rare disease
• Build rare disease networks through local advocacy groups and events
• Become an expert on the Rare Disease portfolio and Biogen resources to support patient journey
