Job summary

Stony Brook University Libraries seeks a part-time Collections/Archives Associate to care for rare books, manuscripts, archival materials, and general library collections. You will retrieve, transport, shelve, refile, rehousing, label, and monitor collections.

The role also covers environmental monitoring, disaster response, and coordinating student staff. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or four years of related experience, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, transport, shelving, refiling, rehousing, labeling, and maintaining collections.
• Monitor environmental, physical, and security conditions and report concerns.
• Assist with inventories, space management, preservation activities, and disaster response.
• Coordinate and oversee departmental student staff and support exhibitions and digitization.
• Provide collections care for rare books, manuscripts, archives, and general collections.
