General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a world leader in remotely piloted aircraft, radars, and surveillance systems. We have an exciting Urgent Field Support (UFS) Engineer opportunity in the Engineering Field Support group.

Under supervision with limited review, you will diagnose complex field issues, develop corrective actions, and document findings for customers and engineers. Frequent on-call support and possible travel are involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master, or PhD in engineering or related field.
• Broad understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering concepts.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply concepts to evolving environments.
• Proficient technical writing; writing sample may be requested.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work extended hours or weekends as required.
• Capable of working independently or in a team.
• Lead less experienced staff on semi-routine tasks.
• Experience in UAS hardware, flight line support, or ST&Q is preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Be able to work rotating on-call schedule for off-hour support.
• Support Operations Center activities and shift coverage.
• Acquire and maintain system knowledge of GA-ASI aircraft and GCS hardware.
• Direct investigations of anomalies and propose corrective actions.
• Interface with engineers, management, technicians, and pilots to coordinate workarounds.
• Author engineering memorandums and presentations for customers and leadership.
• Direct activities of designers and technicians as needed.
• Represent GA-ASI to customers describing technical solutions.
• Document findings and ensure platform improvements are captured for development.
• Travel and provide on-site support when required.
