Qualifications

  • A four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent with 3 years of full-time social/human services experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college; plus 18 months of full-time experience as described above.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 18 months of experience as described above.
  • College credit from an accredited college may be substituted for this experience on the basis of 60 semester credits for 9 months of work, but all candidates must have at least 18 months of full-time experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Benefits Opportunity Specialists who verify eligibility for tenant or landlord for RAP subsidies.
  • Be responsible for issuance of check requests for brokers and landlord payments for RAP subsidies.
  • Approve lease signings with tenant and landlords for new residency, providing keys and signed leases.
  • Ensure RAP subsidy payments to landlords and brokers go out in a timely manner and oversee annual renewals.
  • Review tenant data for federal funds and utilize databases such as HAPS, RAP, HRA One Viewer, WMS, NYCWAY, Finance.net, IQ System, SAVE.
  • Address requests for information from landlords, tenants, and community advocates.
