Job summary

United States Army is seeking a supervisory role to lead the Army Sustainable Range Program in Virginia. Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
• Term employment is subject to a one year trial period.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
• This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
• Incumbent is is required to work in field and garrison locations during day and night and extreme weather conditions, i.e., rain, snow, and wind.
• Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
• RANGE SAFETY COURSE - Incumbent must obtain or have successfully completed the Inter Service Range Safety Course (Intermediate) within 6 months of appointment date.

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes managing the operational readiness and utilization of military firing ranges and maneuver training complexes; administering range safety compliance and Surface Danger Zone (SDZ) standards; managing the financial and operational execution of range improvement programs (e.g., SRP or ITAM); and coordinating with agencies to ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

• Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 2 years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
