Morgans Wonderland Camp in Texas is seeking a Ranch Coordinator to lead the ranch program, supervise staff, and ensure safe, high-quality activities for campers, guests, and volunteers.

Under the Ranch Manager, you will develop curricula, oversee facilities and volunteers, and maintain records while ensuring alignment with the camp0mission and safety standards. Strong riding skills and a passion for inclusive, engaging programming are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard efficient operation of camp programs through policy development and implementation.
  • Assist with ranch curriculum and programming aligned with goals of MWC.
  • Lead day-to-day management of the ranch program to enhance operations.
  • Oversee ranch activities when the Ranch Manager is unavailable.
  • Maintain manuals and records for ranch activities.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are in good repair and clean.
  • Provide daily care for all MWC animals.
  • Ensure activities meet ACA standards and local/state laws.
  • Attend trainings and promote a safe environment.
  • Coach and mentor program staff on ranch activities.
  • Monitor staff training needs and provide in-service sessions.
  • Foster staff morale and teamwork.
  • Manage risk and safety across participants and employees.
  • Provide cross-department support as needed.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Proactively mitigate risk and uphold standards.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Ranch Manager, The Ranch Coordinator plays a vital role in the success and growth of Morgan's Wonderland Camp ("MWC"). This position will focus on the development and implementation of the high-quality programming operations that help create meaningful and lasting experiences for our campers, guests, staff, and volunteers. As a member of the year-round camp team, this role is responsible for ensuring our horse and nature programs (collectively referred to as “the ranch”) reflect and further the mission and values of Morgan's Wonderland Camp. The Ranch Coordinator will assist the Ranch Manager in the oversight of ranch facilities, nature facilities, volunteers, animals, and programming while creating a community of inclusion, innovation, teamwork, and safety.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safeguard the efficient operation of camp programs through thorough and careful review, development, and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the development of ranch curriculum and programming to ensure it meets the goals of MWC.
  • Provide leadership and day to day management of the ranch program area with the purpose of enhancing program operation.
  • Oversee facilitation of camp programming at those times that the Ranch Manager is unavailable.
  • Oversee the creation, review, and retainment of ranch activity procedure manuals and activity related records and reports.
  • Maintain program equipment to be in good repair, and facilities are kept clean.
  • Provide daily care for all MWC animals.
  • Ensure that activity areas meet current ACA standards, Local and State Law, and the Morgan's Wonderland code of standard practice.
  • Obtain appropriate certifications and education level needed for activity areas.
  • Actively support and promote a safe environment and ensure that proper safety precautions are being followed.
  • Participates in on-going professional development and maintains an understanding of current best practices.
  • Coach, instruct and/or consult members of the program staff team regarding the ranch program.
  • Evaluate the need for, prepare, and conduct in-service staff trainings and monitor staff to assess the need for outside or specialized training throughout the year.
  • Cultivate staff morale by monitoring team dynamics and individual needs.
  • Monitor and control systems, practice, and education as it relates to risk management and safety for participants/employees.
  • Provide support to other departments as needed.
  • Attend and participate in employee trainings and meetings.
  • Mitigate risk whenever possible and make safety recommendations to all departments.
  • Any other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ranch Coordinator must have demonstrated experience in teaching about and caring for animals.
  • Ability to independently oversee camp programming.
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of Morgan's Wonderland, as well as the implementation of these values in all daily work activity is a necessity in this leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
  • Must possess high levels of self-motivation and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments, with members of the executive team, board members, and volunteers with confidence and professionalism. Willingness and enthusiasm to work as part of a team; maintain a positive attitude even under stress.
  • Applicable experience working with the special needs population.
  • Ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations is essential.
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner.
  • Identify and respond to environmental and other hazards.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to rider and animal behaviors that may lead to emergency situations.
  • Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of riders, staff, and horses to ensure safety practices are met.
  • Strong riding skills
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work with and lead others.
  • Horse training experience preferred.
  • Must be able to capture details and meet deadlines.
  • Must have very good oral and written communication skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A driver's license is required as well as the capacity to drive to various locations with a trailer.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and twisting upper body for long periods of time.
  • Much physical effort is required on a routine basis: the ability to lift 60 pounds is required. Will be occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Frequent and at times, a high level of walking is required.
  • Capable of viewing a computer monitor for long periods.
Environmental Demands
  • The work environment is an outdoor camp environment with continuous outdoor activity andexposure to weather.
  • The ability to move quickly across campus on uneven terrain.
  • Work is performed in a fast-paced office and outdoor environment that requires attending meetings at different off-site locations.
Additional Information
  • The continuous requirement for professional demeanor and appropriate camp staff attire at alltimes.
