Job summary

Girl Scouts of Colorado seeks a Summer Camp Ranch Hand at Tomahawk Ranch near Bailey, CO. You will maintain site areas, work with a horse and barn team, and ensure safety and positive camper experiences in a high-altitude outdoor setting.

You'll care for horses and barn animals, operate tractors, and assist with daily camp routines while modeling the Girl Scout Promise and Law. This role runs May–August, with room for leadership growth.

Qualifications

• Good skills in carpentry, fencing repair, and general maintenance required.
• Vehicle and machinery maintenance skills required.
• Ability to drive a tractor, use a backhoe preferred.
• Proficient animal care and known safe practices around equine & farm animals.
• Proven ability to work without direct supervision.
• janitorial and housekeeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains site areas as directed by Director Staff.
• Work on a team of 3-5 other horse and barn staff.
• Work with Site Manager & Maintenance Specialist.
• Care for a herd of 15-20 horses including feeding, grooming, tacking, and general first aid of animals.
• Drive tractor & truck to assist with feeding responsibilities.
• Assist Barn Specialist with daily care of barn animals.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of farm/barn/arena/pasture areas.
• Adhere to health, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Participate as a professional member of GSCO staff.
• Support camp program goals and policies.
