The position manages safety, operating practices, budgeting, hiring, and employee development to ensure compliance with federal regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the railroad industry with supervisory duties
• 7+ years in the railroad industry preferred
• Strong communication skills with senior management, employees, customers, railroads, regulatory officials and the public
• Thorough knowledge of FRA regulations and railroad operations
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, CFRs and monthly financial reports
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of railroad operations to drive efficiency and financial performance
• Supervise crews, schedules, personnel, and payroll within budget
• Develop high-performing teams through hiring, coaching and training
• Partner with General Manager and HR on hiring and employee relations
• Coach and train managers and employees on operating practices
• Analyze daily/monthly performance to stay on plan
• Maintain strong customer relationships to meet service commitments
• Represent the railroad in industry trade associations
• Investigate accidents/incidents and prepare reports
• Assist with other projects as assigned
