Job summary

Theuniversityunion in Defiance, Ohio is seeking a Railroad Signal Maintainer for CDL to test, maintain and improve grade crossing and way-side signal systems in accordance with FRA and CDL standards.

This full-time role requires reliability, strong problem solving, and willingness to be on-call. You will work with a team, perform inspections and trouble calls, maintain records, and contribute to safety and efficiency across the district.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic electronics and electrical fundamentals with an emphasis in low-voltage AC & DC circuits and relay or ladder logic.
• Must be able to read wiring diagrams and use a multimeter.
• Knowledge of rail operations and signaling principals, especially grade crossings and AEI readers.
• Good time management and personal initiative; work independently.
• Proficient with a personal computer and MS Office products.

Responsibilities

• Test, maintain and improve grade crossing warning and signal systems on an assigned territory.
• Follow FRA rules and CDL procedures; ensure proper testing and inspections.
• Handle trouble calls and maintain testing records and forms (HOS, timesheets).
• Keep company vehicle, tools and meters in good order; perform calibration schedules.
• Collaborate with customers and teammates; assist on special projects as needed.
