Job summary

Kokosing, Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist to provide field support and help implement company and client safety policies. You will ensure regulatory compliance, railroad safety, and continual improvement of overall safety performance on construction projects.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Safety & Health, 5+ years in railroad safety, and strong knowledge of OSHA and related regulations. You will lead trainings, audits, investigations, and safety communications across teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Safety and Health or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.
5+ years of railroad safety experience preferred; safety in construction is a strong plus.
Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FRA, CSX, EPA regulations and company safety policies.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategies to reduce injuries, illnesses and incidents.
Provide safety training and education to personnel on requirements.
Lead pre-job safety planning and emergency response planning for projects.
Initiate and conduct safety meetings and training programs.
Conduct safety audits, evaluations and inspections and drive corrective actions.
Investigate injuries and incidents and document findings.
Coordinate safety programs with subcontractors and third parties.
Maintain safety program documentation and report updates on changes.
Monitor railroad safety requirements and coordinate with railroad personnel.
Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions arise.
