R. J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC is hiring a Groundsman/Laborer in Caseyville, IL to join our field operations team. You will transport, operate, and service heavy equipment used to clear railroad derailments and perform demanding physical tasks.

This full-time role requires CDL-A (preferred) and DOT medical card, on-call availability, and willingness to travel to job sites. You’ll work outdoors in all weather, follow safety rules, and collaborate with teammates to complete assignments.

Qualifications

• Must have valid CDL-A with no restrictions and a DOT medical card.
• Willingness to travel to job sites and be on-call 24/7.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, permits, and driving requirements.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment (Sidebooms, Track Loaders, Excavators, Vac Trucks, Grapple Trucks).
• Background check, drug screen, and physical capacity test required.

Responsibilities

• Transport, operate, and service heavy equipment used in clearing railroad derailments.
• Handle heavy steel chains, blocks, steel cables, and other devices.
• Practice safe working habits and ensure proper PPE is used.
• Perform maintenance, cleaning, and set-up of equipment using cutting torch and welding.
• Perform digging, hammering, and other physical work with various tools.
• Follow DOT regulations, permits, and driving requirements.
• Be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions.
• Communicate with team and supervisor throughout the job process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
