Job summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Services is seeking a Groundsman/Laborer to join our team in Albany, NY. This role involves material handling, equipment maintenance, and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Qualified candidates should be able to operate heavy equipment and pass background checks; on-the-job training is provided. Extensive safety PPE and 24/7 on-call availability may be required for certain projects.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate heavy or specialized equipment (e.g., Sideboom, Track Loader, Excavator, Vac Truck, Grapple Truck).
• On-the-job training provided and advancement opportunities.
• Must pass background, drug screen, and physical capacity test.

Responsibilities

• Material handling of heavy steel chains, blocks, steel cables, and other devices.
• Practice safe working habits and ensure proper PPE is used.
• Maintenance, cleaning, and setup of equipment requiring use of tools including cutting torch and welding.
• Digging, hammering, and other physical work with various tools.
• Be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions.
• Communicate with team and supervisor throughout the job process.
• Other duties as assigned.
