Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Canton, OH to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for railroads and transit systems. The CIC will lead safety programs, communicate with railroad personnel, and ensure adherence to FRA regulations within track working limits.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a valid driver’s license, with up to 85% travel. Railroad experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires strong communication and organizational skills.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a railroad company (maintenance of way or TY&E preferred).
• Valid Driver's License and High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and flagging services as needed.
• Conduct job briefings and ensure FRA (49 CFR 214) compliance.
• Monitor track conditions and approaching trains to keep personnel safe.
• Coordinate train movements with dispatchers and engineers via radio/phone/electronic systems.
• Document all activities including briefings, incident reports, and logs.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies and procedures.
