Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Contractor in Charge to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for railroad projects.

This on-site role requires ensuring all work within rights-of-way is performed safely and in accordance with FRA and other regulations. The CIC coordinates with dispatchers and engineers, conducts job briefings, monitors track conditions, and maintains documentation.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company.
• Willingness to travel 50–85% for deployments.
• Successfully completes all required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure FRA regulations compliance during work near tracks.
• Monitor track conditions and train movements for safety.
• Coordinate with dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors via radio/phone.
• Document all activities, including briefings and logs.
• Enforce railroad, state, and federal policies.
