Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Boise, ID to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for railroads and transit systems.

The CIC ensures worksite safety, conducts briefings, and maintains documentation to satisfy FRA regulations and client requirements. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, 2 years railroad experience, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel long-term.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way or TY&E departments.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Communicates effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Ability for long-term travel assignments, including multi-month deployments.
• Successfully completes all required federal, client, and company-specific training.

Responsibilities

• A safety-focused contractor responsible for overseeing worksite safety and providing flagging services as needed in place of railroad personnel.
• Oversee compliance with Federal Railroad (FRA) regulations (49 CFR 214) during work within arm's length of the track.
• Monitor track conditions, approaching trains, and work activities to keep personnel clear of active tracks and equipment.
• Communicate with train dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate train movements and permissions within limits.
• Document all activities, including job briefings, incident reports, daily logs, and forms for management and regulatory agencies submission.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
