Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) in Little Rock, AR seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) to oversee construction, maintenance and safety compliance for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail partners.

The CIC acts as a safety-focused contractor, conducts job briefings, monitors track conditions, coordinates train movements, and ensures compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214).

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Communicates effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Ability for long-term travel assignments, including multi-month deployments.
• Valid Driver's License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way or TY&E departments
• Successfully completes all required federal, client, and company-specific training.

Responsibilities

• Safety-focused contractor overseeing worksite safety and flagging services as needed.
• Conducts job briefings and ensures FRA (49 CFR 214) compliance during track work.
• Monitors track conditions, approaching trains, and work activities to keep personnel clear of active tracks/equipment.
• Communicates with train dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate train movements and permissions.
• Documents all activities, including briefings, incident reports, and daily logs for management and regulatory agencies.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
