Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Field Operations Manager to oversee field teams in railroad emergency response, derailment recovery, and related projects. The role requires decisive leadership, safety focus, and strong customer service, with on-site responsibilities at locations in PA and NC.

The position involves coordinating manpower, schedules, equipment, and project priorities, while ensuring compliance with DOT/FRA regulations.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in railroad, heavy equipment, construction, emergency response, or related field operations.
• Experience leading teams in demanding field environments.
• Strong understanding of DOT and FRA regulations.
• CDL Class A or B preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and support Supervisors across multiple field assignments.
• Coordinate manpower, work assignments, schedules, equipment, and project priorities.
• Monitor field activities to ensure safety, efficiency, and DOT/FRA compliance.
• Visit active job sites to evaluate safety, quality, productivity, and operations.
• Provide hands-on guidance, coaching, and problem-solving support to field personnel.
• Respond to operational issues and emergency service calls when needed.
• Identify risks and take action to resolve field and operational challenges.
• Maintain communication with customers, field partners, and regulatory agencies.
• Train and develop employees while supporting hiring and performance evaluations.
• Assist with workforce planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Review payroll, labor-hour, equipment-use, and project records.
• Monitor equipment condition and coordinate repairs or replacement.
• Assist with customer development and relationship management.
• Participate in industry events and activities that support growth.
