Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Field Construction Coordinator to partner with the project manager in overseeing the design and execution of construction projects on site. The role involves creating and inspecting drawings, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and ensuring daily site inspections and compliance with contract documents.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Project Manager to oversee design and implementation of construction projects.
  • Create and inspect drawings and designs for projects.
  • Liaise between contractors, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers and customers.
  • Document workflows and update on progress.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of onsite equipment.
  • Supervise and direct onsite crew.
  • Draft and submit reports.
  • Perform daily inspections of the Job Site.
  • Ensure field work conforms to contracts and documents.
  • Be available to work 7 days a week; base 40-hour week.
  • Work Monday–Friday during pre-construction phase; weekends as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes and standards.
  • Inspect construction activities for quality and safety.
  • Coordinate with other project teams and suppliers for quality control.
  • Assist in gathering documents for project activities.
  • Represent construction team in project meetings.
  • Make sound decisions with limited information; recommend actions.
  • Resolve field problems quickly.
  • May perform other duties assigned by PM on technical projects.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Project Manager to oversee the design and implementation of construction projects
  • Create and inspect drawings and designs for projects.
  • Work as a liaison between contractors, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and customers
  • Document work flow processes and provide updates on work progress
  • Ensure proper maintenance of onsite equipment
  • Supervise and direct onsite crew
  • Draft and submit reports
  • Complete daily inspections of Job Site
  • Ensure conformance of field work with contract specifications and documents
  • Availability to work 7 days a week (base will be 40‑hour work week)
  • Monday – Friday during the pre‑construction phase
  • Must be available for field work occasionally on weekends once construction begins
  • Observes construction practices required for compliance of project/construction operations with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements
  • Performs inspection of construction activities
  • Coordinates internally with other project execution disciplines and external suppliers to ensure proper quality control planning is performed
  • Helps create and/or gather required documents and information to support the successful completion of relevant project activities
  • Helps represent the construction team in project meeting settings
  • Makes sound and prudent decisions and recommends course of action, especially when only limited facts are available
  • Solve problems quickly in the field
  • May be tasked with other special duties as assigned by the Project Manager on technical projects (i.e., investigation, analysis, and design) in specific areas of expertise
Requirements
  • Railroad construction experience preferred
  • Understanding safety guidelines
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Analytical and strong problem‑solving ability
  • The ability to communicate in a professional manner with owner’s representatives, coworkers and direct supervisors
  • Ability to complete work under time pressure and to maintain composure under the stress of emergency situations
  • Must be able to work well with others
