National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Sioux Falls, SD, to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for railroad projects.

This field role requires supervising work within railroad rights-of-way, conducting briefings, coordinating with train crews, and ensuring adherence to FRA regulations.

Candidates must have strong communication, pass required training, and be ready for extensive travel (50–85%).

Qualifications

• 2+ years of railroad experience preferred in maintenance of way or TY&E.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking.
• Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel 50–85% for multi-month deployments.
• Completion of required federal, client, and company training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety-focused worksite operations and provide flagging as needed.
• Conduct job briefings and enforce FRA 49 CFR 214 compliance.
• Monitor track conditions and coordinate train movements with dispatchers.
• Document all activities and submit reports to management and regulatory agencies.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
