Job summary

Road & Rail Services is seeking a Railroad Carman in Paris, KY to inspect railcars, perform welding and fabrication, and repair mechanical issues. This outdoor, hands-on role requires safe work practices and the ability to work with limited supervision in an industrial setting.

The ideal candidate has welding or heavy mechanical experience, familiarity with cutting torches and metal fabrication, and a dependable attendance record. A valid driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on welding, fabrication, or heavy mechanical experience.
• Railroad experience beneficial but not required.
• Preferred: stick welding experience.
• Knowledge of cutting-torch operation and metal fabrication.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
• Experience safely using common hand and power tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and a safety-first approach.
• A valid state driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect railcars for damage, wear, and mechanical problems.
• Complete stick-welding and metal fabrication work.
• Cut and shape metal with torches, grinders, and related equipment.
• Use wrenches, ratchets, hand tools, and other repair equipment.
• Operate railcar end doors during inspection and repair activities.
• Determine repairs needed and complete authorized work accurately.
• Maintain tools and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Follow all company, customer, and industry safety requirements.
