Foley Equipment in Kansas City, MO is seeking an Undercarriage Technician to perform repairs and reconditioning on undercarriage components, delivering high-quality service to customers.

You will diagnose problems, recommend repairs, test adjustments, and travel for training or to assist at other locations. A background in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems is valued, with forklift and rigging experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical knowledge incl. electrical and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and understand specifications and manuals.
• Experience with diesel mechanics is a plus.
• Stable work history is preferred.

Job description

Our Undercarriage Technician is primarily responsible for providing high quality repairs and reconditioning to respond to customer needs quickly and efficiently while ensuring maximum value for work performed.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Perform all levels of repair as well as full reconditioning on undercarriage component
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical repairs and adjustments
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
• Troubleshooting on equipment as required
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers on their repairs
• Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Basic mechanical knowledge including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics
• General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments
• Understand crane hoist and rigging equipment (preferred)
• Preferred forklift experience
• Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications

What Will Put You Ahead

• Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry (specifically with undercarriage components)
• Stable work history
• Caterpillar experience a plus

Physical & Working Requirements

• This role involves hands‑on mechanical work in a shop environment. The employee must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include:
• Safely and repeatedly lifting components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance
• Safely lifting, carrying, and lowering components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance
• Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials
• Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights
• Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods
• Safely operating tools and equipment
