Road & Rail Services is hiring a Railcar Mechanic / Welder in Baltimore, Maryland. This on-site, full-time role focuses on inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing railroad freight cars, with welding development opportunities.

Ideal candidates have hands-on mechanical repair experience and a willingness to learn welding techniques, including AWS D15.1 qualification when required. This position offers a path to skilled trade advancement in a safety-conscious team environment.

Qualificações

• Previous hands-on mechanical repair or maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical repair equipment.
• Ability to identify mechanical problems and understand basic equipment functions.
• Willingness to learn welding and successfully complete an AWS D15.1 welding qualification exam when required.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to follow written and verbal repair instructions.
• Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable performing physically demanding work in an industrial environment.

Responsabilidades

• Inspect railcars for worn parts, damaged components, structural defects, and mechanical problems.
• Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repair procedures.
• Remove, repair, adjust, and replace damaged or defective mechanical components.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on railcar brake systems and related equipment.
• Conduct Class I air brake tests following applicable railroad procedures.
• Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, cutting torches, and specialized mechanical equipment.
• Assist with welding, metal cutting, grinding, and fabrication work.
• Measure, align, and install replacement components according to repair specifications.
• Identify additional maintenance needs and communicate findings to supervisors.
• Complete required repair documentation, including materials used and labor hours.
• Operate forklifts, spotter trucks, and other equipment when properly trained and authorized.
