Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc. is hiring for an Auto Unloader to handle the safe movement of vehicles on/off rail cars in outdoor yard conditions in New Orleans, LA.

The role requires physical work, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in varying weather while coordinating with team members. Responsibilities include inspecting cargo for damage, maintaining accurate records, ensuring proper rack setup, and assisting with labor planning.

Qualifications

• Must possess the ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles, including oversized vehicles.
• Ability to work in tight and narrow spaces.
• Possess valid driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain eRail certification credentials as required by the railroad.
• Have good written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
• Be able to work in all outdoor conditions including rain, snow, ice, heat, wind, cold.

Responsibilities

• Quality Control: Ensure incoming and outgoing cargo is inspected for damage and issues reported promptly.
• Record Keeping: Email to confirm tracks and car locations as unloaded.
• Safety Management: Conduct daily job/safety briefings with the team.
• Inventory: Track real-time inventory as cars are unloaded and parked.
• Physical Involvement: Set up and ground auto racks for unloading and release.
• Labor Planning: Assist Terminal Manager with weekly labor needs.
