Mendocino Railway–Skunk Train is seeking a Railbike Mechanic to maintain, inspect, and repair railbikes and related equipment for a safe guest experience. This part-time role includes evenings, weekends, and holidays and offers hands-on mechanical work in outdoor environments.

The ideal candidate has experience with bicycles or small engines, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and documentation.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience repairing bicycles, small engines, or similar mechanical systems.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use small hand tools for repair and maintenance.
• Familiarity with ordering parts and maintaining maintenance records.
• Ability to work independently and manage maintenance tasks efficiently.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues quickly and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail with safety in mind.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check required.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with employees, contractors, regulatory reps, and the public.
• Strong organizational skills and reliability.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct daily inspections of railbikes and running gear for safe operation.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on railbikes ( brakes, chains, pedals, frames).
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues with railbikes and equipment.
• Maintain tools, parts inventory, and maintenance records.
• Clean and prepare railbikes and gear for guest use.
• Assist with bike staging and daily departures.
• Respond to maintenance needs during operating hours to keep fleet running.
• Ensure all equipment meets safety standards prior to guest use.
• Communicate effectively with guests, crew, and supervisors for seamless service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
