Job summary

Openwork is seeking a dependable Transfer Operator in Baytown, TX to safely transfer materials from railcars into silos and support daily production. You will operate transfer equipment, connect cargo hoses, and follow safety and quality standards on a rotational day shift.

Must be able to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, keeping a clean work area, and reporting to supervision with reliability and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rail yard safety practices.
• Ability to pass the company's general knowledge exam for transferring equipment.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
• Ability to kneel and work in a kneeling position for short periods.
• Ability to climb stairs and work comfortably at heights.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Dependable attendance and flexibility to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transfer materials from railcars to silos safely, efficiently, and consistently.
• Operate transfer equipment according to established procedures, equipment manuals, and supervisor instructions.
• Connect and disconnect cargo hoses.
• Use rail yard safety devices, including blue flag signs and wheel chocks.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and equipment.
• Perform general labor, cleaning, and assigned maintenance duties.
• Follow company safety procedures, quality standards, and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report to work on time and ready to begin each shift.
• Complete other duties assigned by the supervisor or manager.
