Job summary

Road & Rail Services in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Transfer Operator to safely move liquid and bulk products between railcars and tanker trucks, using pumps, hoses, and valves. You will work outdoors in a rail yard, following strict safety procedures and maintaining product quality.

No railroad experience is required; candidates from manufacturing, warehousing, or material handling are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Valid state-issued driver's license.
Commitment to workplace safety and following detailed operating procedures.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders and access elevated railcar platforms.
Good communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Safely transfer liquids and bulk materials between railcars and tanker trucks.
Connect, inspect, and disconnect transfer hoses, pumps, fittings, and valves.
Monitor transfers to prevent spills, leaks, or contamination.
Prepare materials for transfer using approved heating, sparging, or sampling procedures.
Verify equipment connections and operating conditions before transfers.
Complete transfer documentation and communicate operational concerns to supervisors.
