Job summary

North County Transit - San Diego Railroad seeks an Overhaul and Repair Mechanic to diagnose, maintain, repair, overhaul, inspect and test NCTD buses, trains, and support vehicles. The role involves major disassembly, rebuilding and calibration work within a safety-sensitive environment.

The candidate will work in a shop setting at various sites, with travel between district facilities as needed. A California CDL and qualification on NCTD properties are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum four years of experience in maintenance and repair of automotive and diesel-powered heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and inspect buses, trains, and support vehicles.
• Remove, repair and install major components and sub-systems.
• Maintain and repair electrical and conditioning systems in vehicles.
• Operate and repair shop equipment and tools used for maintenance.
• Complete safety inspections and document defects and repairs.
• Enter data into the maintenance management system.
