Job summary

Amtrak in Connecticut is seeking a Passenger Services Agent to handle track assignments, delays and train announcements. You will assist passengers boarding and detraining with hand-carried luggage.

The role requires knowledge of fares, schedules and routing, ability to use the Solari Board Console, and a willingness to perform janitorial duties. The position offers comprehensive health, retirement, rail pass privileges and other benefits under the company’s collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• Must be qualified on Stars system.
• Thorough knowledge of fares, schedules, routing and connecting points of all passenger trains.
• Qualified in the use of the Solari Board Computer Console.
• Knowledge of tariffs and baggage and express rules.
• Ability to perform duties in accordance with Amtrak safety procedures.
• Must follow departmental rules and regulations and handle other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Handle Amtrak express shipments and checked baggage according to company procedures.
• Collect and protect all charges on excess baggage, transfer, storage, and express shipments.
• Maintain baggage/express records and receive/sort company mail.
• Handle inquiries for lost or delayed baggage.
• Provide assistance to group movements with luggage.
• Provide assistance to elderly and handicapped passengers as required.
• Janitorial duties as required to keep work areas clean.
