Job summary

Watco is seeking a Track Laborer to safely inspect, repair, and maintain railroad track infrastructure. The role involves manual labor and requires proficiency in inspecting track components, switches, ties, and ballast, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Starting pay is $22.00 per hour. Training is provided, including track-related coursework and regulatory tests, to ensure compliant operations across sites.

Qualifications

• Must pass and/or obtain all required reporting, testing, and certifications for this position.
• Track Ground School completion is required.
• FRA General Code of Operating Rules written test required.
• Roadway Worker Protection written test required.
• MSHA/OSHA training certification may be required on site.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain railroad track infrastructure to ensure safe service.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and installation of rail components.
• Inspect and repair track turnouts, switches, and related infrastructure.
• Read gauges and maintenance manuals as part of daily tasks.
• Operate equipment such as backhoe and track hoe.
• Report accurately and timely on job progress and safety.
