Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Remove and replace track components (ties, rails, bars).
• Correct deviations in track surface, alignment and gauge.
• Repair or adjust track switches, using wrenches and replacement parts.
• Load/unload and general handling of materials and equipment.
• Restores track after derailments.
• Manages the right of way including cutting and removing brush/vegetation.
• Install and repair street crossings, culverts, drainage.
• Weld sections of track together, such as switch points and frogs.
• Operate track tools and machines to tighten/loosen bolts, rail saws, drills, and related hand tools.
• Clean tracks or clear ice or snow from tracks or switch boxes.
