Job summary

Jacobs Solutions Inc. in Boston invites applications for a Civil Engineering Intern in Rail & Track Design for Summer 2027.

You will design horizontal and vertical track alignments, perform civil calculations, develop sketches and details, and help prepare preconstruction cost estimates for rail/transit projects, from concept to completion. You’ll work with MicroStation/InRail/AutoCAD, gain exposure to project management, and assist in preparing Construction Documents and permits, under a hybrid

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional expertise with MicroStation and/or InRail (or AutoCad).
• Knowledge of AREMA and local railroad criteria.
• EIT certification/ pursuing a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design horizontal and vertical track alignments for rail/transit projects.
• Perform civil design calculations and develop sketches and details.
• Prepare quantity calculations and preconstruction cost estimates.
• Support project management tasks and contract document development.
• Assist in Construction Phase Services reviewing submittals and RFIs and obtain permits.
