Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Portland, OR, seeks a Rail Vehicle and Systems Intern (Mechanical/Electrical) for Summer and Fall 2027 to support rail procurements and systems engineering programs across the Pacific Northwest.

You will work with experienced project managers and engineers on technical reviews, drafting specifications, and managing large volumes of engineering data and contract information to deliver meaningful results.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Must be at least a rising Junior (have completed at least sophomore year).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the review and organization of rail vehicle technical specifications, contract deliverables, and vendor submittals.
• Support preparation of technical comments and disposition matrices on manufacturer design submissions.
• Draft, edit, and proofread technical memoranda, meeting minutes, presentations and internal reports.
• Support senior engineers in client communications and project management tasks.
• Engage in continuous professional development to enhance rail engineering knowledge.
