Job summary

Rail Link, Inc. in Calvert, AL seeks a Switchman to safely operate rail equipment and ensure freight reaches customers efficiently. You’ll receive hands-on and classroom training, working outdoors in all weather for a long-term career.

This full-time position (40+ hours weekly) involves outdoor work, night/weekend shifts, and a physically active role with growth opportunities within a dynamic railroad environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related or relevant work experience is a plus.
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Experience working in a safety-sensitive environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and railroad safety regulations.
• Communicate with customers and team members using signals or radio instructions.
• Operate track switches to determine train routes.
• Inspect the condition of railcars in movement and when stationary.
• Read and understand rule books and written materials.
• Utilize basic computer skills for electronic reporting and train documentation.
