Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is seeking a Signal & Interlocking Inspector to lead and assist with field crews responsible for testing, maintenance, and installation of wayside control equipment for automatic train operation and signaling systems.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, five years of rail signaling experience, and strong communication skills. Candidates must supervise personnel, manage records, and coordinate procurement across MBTA locations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Five years of experience in rail or transit signaling.
Ability to inspect job sites for quality, safety, and schedule compliance.
Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical distribution systems.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Experience supervising a workforce.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications as used for documentation.

Responsibilities

Test, maintain, repair, and install wayside control equipment for automatic train operation and signaling systems.
Plan, order, and schedule procurement of materials and equipment for area projects.
Prepare and maintain records of equipment usage, breakdowns, and maintenance.
Travel to work sites and assist during emergencies or events as needed.
Respond to inquiries from customers, vendors, or coworkers professionally.
Work various shifts and locations as assigned.
Uphold MBTA policies and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
Assist in workforce management and adherence to bargaining agreements.
