Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority in Boston seeks a Rail Vehicle Maintenance Technician responsible for inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of electronic, electrical and mechanical systems on DMA rail vehicles and related equipment.

The role requires three years of repair experience on mechanical, electrical or HVAC components, a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass CORI checks and MBTA medical/safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience repairing mechanical, electrical or HVAC components.
  • Ability to comprehend and respond to instructions in English.
  • Must pass Rail Vehicle Maintenance Technician exam.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for at least three years.
  • Possession of a satisfactory driving record for at least three years prior to the date of hire.
  • Ability to pass CORI check and MBTA medical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, trouble-shoot, maintenance and repair all electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment on DMA vehicles.
  • Perform time-based inspections for major and minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Input daily work into a computerized system.
  • Drive to work sites and coordinate with crews as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical publications, blueprints and wiring diagrams.
