Job summary

CPKC is seeking qualified candidates for Signal and Communications maintenance in Minot, ND. The role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining signaling equipment and related infrastructure, with a focus on safety and compliance.

The position requires 3+ years in S&C, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license. Candidates should be flexible for nights, weekends, and various shifts, in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in S&C maintenance and renewal.
• Completion of a certified railroad signal training program before hire.
• Certifications in CPKC's safety rules and medical card.
• Valid driver’s license; commercial license preferred.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays in any weather.
• Strong communication and teamwork; safety-focused and protocol-driven.

Responsibilities

• Dig, cable repair, assemble and install signal equipment, pole line work.
• Repair and/or replace damaged equipment, test and verify operation of S&C systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on all S&C apparatus.
• Perform inspections and testing as required on each device.
• Report problems, failures or unsafe conditions.
• Ensure material on hand to permit work without undue delay.
• Make authorized corrections and modifications.
• Align with safety and regulatory rules to uphold safety and operational excellence.
• Other duties may include cable locates, painting, and housekeeping of signal housing and equipment.
