Job summary

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, is seeking a Quality Assurance professional to work under the Division Quality Manager in a rail environment. The role focuses on ensuring conformance to AAR M1003 and internal procedures, and leading inspection and training activities for facility staff.

Candidate should bring at least 5 years of quality management and inspection experience, knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to communicate with customers.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience in quality management, supervision and inspection.
• Knowledge of AAR Rules / MSRP / ISO Quality Management requirements.
• Freight railcar wheel shop experience or machine shop related experience.
• Nondestructive testing experience (MPI and UT).
• Read and understand precision instruments and gauges.
• Read and understand technical documents and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Quality Management System conforms to AAR M1003 and internal procedures.
• Oversee inspection processes and verify quality compliance by team members.
• Provide periodic quality training and assist with new hire training.
• Communicate with customers by email and phone.
• Maintain calibration of precision instruments and gauges.
• Keep QWI and QSP records up to date and communicate changes to departments.
