Job summary

Impact Workforce Solutions in Muncie, IN is hiring a Rail Propulsion & Brake Test Specialist to test diesel-electric propulsion, air brakes, and system interactions. You will isolate faults across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, conduct track tests under strict safety rules, and operate locomotives, tuggers, forklifts, and overhead cranes as needed.

You’ll read schematics and instrumentation, lead root-cause analysis, and coordinate with Quality and Production to drive corrective

Qualifications

  • Hands-on troubleshooting in electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and flowcharts.
  • Strong communication skills for documentation and non-conformance resolution.
  • Must have Skill Level I: 0–2 years of experience or an electrical/mechanical engineering degree.
  • Skill Level II: 2+ years of relevant experience or advanced technical skill.

Responsibilities

  • Test and validate diesel-electric propulsion, air brake performance, and system interactions.
  • Isolate faults and repair issues spanning electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Conduct track tests under strict operating rules and safety procedures.
  • Follow work instructions, capture accurate measurements, and configure specialized instrumentation.
  • Operate locomotives as well as tuggers, forklifts, and overhead cranes as needed.
  • Read and interpret schematics, flowcharts, gauges, and precision instruments.
  • Lead-level impact: root-cause resolution and corrective action with Quality and Production.
