Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is seeking a Project Manager of Rail Operations to lead the development of capital rail projects from planning through design and construction, with accountability for schedule, budget, and quality. The role reports to the Director of Railroad Capital Planning and Finance and collaborates with multiple MBTA departments.

Qualifications

• Project management experience in capital projects.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple departments and stakeholders.
• Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements (FTA, FRA).

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all Commuter Rail Operations projects within the CIP.
• Manage capital project funding requests, amendments, and development of Project Charters.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, monitor cashflow projections and expenditures.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for all Commuter Rail projects.
• Coordinate and supervise consultants and contractors to meet safety, cost and schedule goals.
• Coordinate activities with MBTA departments and outside agencies.
• Prepare project-related correspondence, reports, and presentations.
