Job summary

The Bay Area Electric Railroad Association (WRM) seeks a General Manager to oversee all rail operations, maintenance, safety, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and capital improvements related to the Western Railway Museum. You will supervise multiple superintendents and staff, ensure on-time performance, and drive organizational sustainability.

Responsibilities include budgeting, reporting to the Board, and leading cross-department collaboration with volunteers.

• Experience leading complex rail operations and safety programs.
• Strong financial oversight and budgeting abilities.
• Proven track record coordinating multi-department teams and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level leadership across all rail operations and maintenance functions.
• Develop and implement integrated business plans with budgets, milestones, and safety objectives.
• Lead organizational mobilization aligning safety, operational, and economic performance goals.
• Identify opportunities supporting long-term museum and organizational sustainability.
• Foster communication and cooperation across departments and volunteer teams.
• Assist the Board in planning capital improvements and long-range initiatives.
• Oversee daily railway operations including schedules, crew assignments, and equipment readiness.
• Attend Board meetings and provide performance summaries.
• Ensure compliance with FRA standards and safety protocols.
