Job summary

SMS Mill Services, LLC is seeking a Rail Supervisor to support daily operations in a steel mill scrap environment. This entry-level leadership role works alongside the crew, coordinating tasks and guiding production while stepping into supervision during vacations or peak times.

You will help drive safety, housekeeping, and yard efficiency, learn supervisory responsibilities, and communicate with management and maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in industrial, steel mill, scrap, construction, or similar environment preferred.
• Leadership potential and desire to grow into a supervisory role.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills; hands-on in operations.

Responsibilities

• Support scrap handling, material movement, and production activities alongside crews.
• Coordinate daily tasks and keep workflow moving efficiently.
• Be a go-to resource for shift employees on questions and direction.
• Support housekeeping and yard efficiency; assist with special projects.
• Learn supervisory duties, assist with scheduling and accountability.
• Step into supervisory role during vacations or peak periods.
• Direct crews, assign work, ensure safety and production standards.
• Promote safety policies and PPE requirements.
