Job summary

Watco Transloading is seeking a conductor/engineer to control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars at yards or industrial sites. This on-the-job role focuses on safe, efficient loading and unloading of cars to service customers, with a prescribed training period.

The position requires learning to read switching orders, operate locomotives, and communicate with engineers, dispatchers, and crew.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass training and required testing.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable attendance.
• Follow directions to complete tasks on schedule.
• Read, write and communicate in English; understand basic math.
• Read switching orders and coordinate train crews.
• Observe signals and operate locomotive according to rules and safety.
• Assist with switching, coupling/uncoupling, and braking procedures.
• Maintain records of cars switched and cargo.
